This is my last tutorial in the Advent calendar 2015 suggested by Matxalen. A fireplace. The interesting thing is that we can adapt its size and shape to any space we have.

To make this fireplace I glued on a cardboard 5 mm thick some pieces of metal jewelry and other items of wood.

I applied a couple of coats of gesso for priming and give a slightly rough texture.

Después he pintado de negro y le he dado cera virgen.

Then I painted it black and I gave wax. After cleaning with a cloth, I applied eyeshadow to give a iridescent shine.

I applied acrylic spray varnish to protect the surface.

The bricks inside the fireplace are  made with adhesive cork

I bought some LEDs that imitate the light of fire. The batteries are hidden in the chimney

With this tutorial, I finish my collaboration in the Advent Calendar 2015. All my tutorials belong to the first dollhouse that I have built and you will see soon in the magazine Miniaturas and later in my blog.

I hope you have nice and happy Christmas, and a new year full of good projects
A warm hug and thank you for being there.

We continue our Advent calendar. If you want to see all the tutorials, you can click here.
Long ago, I show you how to make a spiral staircase using a wooden fan. Visually, the result was great, however it was difficult to make and extremely fragile. You can see this tutorial here.
I've rethought that project and I propose you an easier and more resistant version.

For the tread of each step we use the blades of the fan glued to a base of thick watercolor paper with a small hole in the end.

The riser is made of watercolor paper, and it has a tab up and down to glue it.

We draw as many as we need, cut and fold the tabs.

We glue the risers to each tread skewing all the steps with a brochette stick.

The painting options are endless, but I've painted rusty black . First we paint it black, and then with different shades of reds and browns and oranges with dry brush.

The handrail is a wire curved and fixed to the first and the second floor.

Espero que os haya gustado.
Un abrazo y mil gracias :-)

I hope you like it.
Hugs and thanks :-)

Pinto, pinto, gorgorito, saca la vaca de veinticinco...- Eeeny meeny, miney moe, catch a baby by the toe...

I told you that I have many reasons to be grateful. Not only because the number of visits, which already surpassed more than 500,000, but also because the affection I receive from you daily. Many of these, materialized in the Tom Bishop show of November.

This is the reason because I've decided to raffle one of my miniature scenes, trying to choose those of your election. (Except the reserved or already sold scenes)

As no one can find an “innocent hand” in the whole country (this is a spanish expression I don't know if it exists in english, but it refers to someone pure and honest to pick the paper with the name of the winner. Nowadays, our country has a lot of corruption cases and it is hard to find someone honest). I have used a number generator online to get the number of the winner, and that person is ... (drum roll ...):

If my accounts are well, the number 17 corresponds to El blog de Cantinmacu! Congrats!!
Contact me through my email and we decided wich one you'd like to have.

Thank you all for participating. Better luck next: - *

Calendario de Adviento I- Advent Calendar I

Matxalen told me if I wanted to participate in an Advent calendar, and I replied yes of course. So that this post is one of those related to the Advent calendar 2015. You can follow this link to see all the tutorials.

Today we will learn how to make a rustic kitchen sink.

First make the base of the sink with wood or cardboard and cover entirely with wall filling putty. When it has dried gently sand.

For the coutertop, use wood or board and cover it with small squares of wood well sanded.

Pintad cada baldosa a vuestro gusto

Paint each tile to your liking

Cover all the surface with two layers of Diamond Glaze varnish. I have covered the sink too.

After pasting the sink to the top counter, apply with your fingers, plastic putty to the edges between the tiles and clean the surface quickly. When it dries, apply again Diamond Glaze varnish.

The spout is a piece of wire, with a rolled paper strip at the end. Different beads are the different parts of the water tap.

I put wood around the counter to beautify, and two laser cut brackets to the wall painted as they where made of iron with rust stains.
The pipes are made with plastic tubes of different thicknesses.

I hope you like this post
I write you soon with the name of the winner of the raffle, thank you!
